Dr. Miuriel Castillo Obregón studied at UCASTE university in the city of Estelí. Graduating in 2014 with her degree of General Doctor and Surgeon, she began to work for a tobacco business as a general physician giving medical attention to laborers. In the same year, she began working at the Hospital of Estelí as a general pediatrician which she was responsible for emergency attentions, general consultations, and pediatric emergencies.
Dr. Miuriel began to work in Global Brigades in May of 2015 as a temporary doctor. Completing multiple brigades from 2015 to 2018, she was motivated to help people, and after hard work, Dr. Miuriel was promoted to the program lead of Medical Initiatives, including CHW program, Patient Referral program, and providing better health access to communities without medical access through community health workers.
